Hyderabad: Ahead of the Hanuman Jayanti procession scheduled on April 2, mosques located along the procession routes in Hyderabad have been covered with cloth as a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incidents.
The mosques in areas including Afzal Gunj and Charminar were draped as part of the security arrangements made by authorities to maintain communal harmony during the procession.
Hyderabad Police have made elaborate security arrangements for the annual event. City Police Commissioner C.V. Anand chaired a coordination meeting with officials and organisers to review security and logistical preparations.
Police said around 168 processions from different parts of the city are expected to merge into the main procession. Nearly 3,000 police personnel along with additional forces will be deployed to maintain law and order.
Authorities are also keeping a close vigil on sensitive locations and religious places as part of preventive measures.
Police have issued guidelines regarding the height of idols in view of flyovers and railway bridges along the procession routes to avoid any logistical issues.
Traffic diversions will be implemented and the public has been requested to cooperate with police instructions. Citizens have also been advised not to believe or spread rumours on social media, with officials warning of strict action against those spreading misinformation.
