CBSE Class 10 results declared, pass percentage at 93.70; Trivandrum and Vijayawada top regions

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday announced the Class 10 examination results, recording an overall pass percentage of 93.70, showing a marginal increase compared to last year.

According to official data, a total of 24,83,479 students had registered for the examinations, out of which 24,71,777 appeared. Among them, 23,16,008 students have been declared successful.

The examinations were conducted between February 17 and March 11, 2026, across centres in India and abroad.

Regional performance

Region-wise, Trivandrum and Vijayawada have once again emerged as the top-performing regions, both recording a pass percentage of 99.79.

Chennai followed closely with 99.58, while Bengaluru recorded 98.91.

Among other regions, Delhi West and Delhi East registered pass percentages of 97.45 and 97.33 respectively.

Officials said the performance reflects consistency in high-performing regions, particularly in southern parts of the country.

Gender-wise results

Girls have continued to outperform boys in this year’s results.

The pass percentage among girls stood at 94.99, compared to 92.69 among boys.

The pass percentage for transgender candidates was recorded at 87.50.

School category performance

Among different categories of institutions, Kendriya Vidyalayas recorded the highest pass percentage at 99.57.

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas followed with 99.42.

Government schools and government-aided schools recorded pass percentages of 91.43 and 91.01 respectively.

Foreign schools also performed strongly with a pass percentage of 99.10.

High scorers

A significant number of students secured high marks this year.

According to CBSE data, 2,21,574 students scored 90 percent and above, while 55,368 candidates scored above 95 percent.

Officials said the large number of high scorers indicates stable academic performance across regions.

Compartment category

A total of 1,47,172 students have been placed in the compartment category, accounting for 5.95 percent of candidates.

This shows a marginal improvement compared to last year’s 5.96 percent.

CBSE said these students will be given an opportunity to appear in the compartment examinations to improve their scores.

Result access and next steps

Students can access their results through official CBSE platforms and digital portals.

Schools and authorities have advised students to verify their marksheets and follow further instructions regarding admissions and subject selection for higher classes.

The announcement of results marks the beginning of the academic transition phase for lakhs of students moving to higher secondary education.
