Hyderabad: With Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) matches scheduled at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, city police have issued a traffic advisory for the remaining fixtures to manage congestion around the stadium area.
Officials said matches are scheduled on April 21, May 3, May 6 and May 22, and heavy traffic movement is expected on match days, particularly in the Uppal and surrounding areas.
On April 21, when Sunrisers Hyderabad face Delhi Capitals, traffic congestion is expected from noon to midnight on key stretches including Nagole to Habsiguda via Uppal Junction and Boduppal to Amberpet via Uppal Junction and Ramanthapur.
Police have advised commuters to avoid these routes during peak hours and use alternate roads where possible.
Diversions for heavy vehicles
Traffic police have announced diversions for heavy vehicles to ease pressure around the stadium area.
Vehicles coming from Ghatkesar towards Uppal will be diverted at HMDA Uppal Bhagayath entrance near Mehfil Hotel towards Nagole and LB Nagar.
Those travelling from LB Nagar towards Uppal will be diverted at Nagole Metro Station and redirected through Boduppal, Chengicherla and Cherlapally towards Ghatkesar.
Traffic from Tarnaka towards Uppal will be diverted at Habsiguda crossroad towards Nacharam and further via Cherlapally.
Vehicles from Ramanthapur heading towards Uppal will be diverted at Street No. 8 towards Habsiguda and Nacharam routes.
For vehicles coming from Warangal towards Hyderabad, police have advised using the Outer Ring Road (ORR) at Ghatkesar and proceeding via Abdullapurmet, LB Nagar and Dilsukhnagar.
Similarly, traffic moving from Hyderabad towards Warangal is advised to use LB Nagar and Hayathnagar to access the ORR at Abdullapurmet.
Parking arrangements
Authorities have identified parking areas around the stadium to manage the inflow of vehicles.
Four parking zones have been arranged within a 500-metre radius of the stadium for the general public, while parking inside the stadium is reserved for VVIP and VIP pass holders.
Commuters coming from LB Nagar can park at DSL open areas, Modern Bakers and along designated industrial lane stretches near LG Godown Junction and Chemveda Junction.
Those arriving from Habsiguda side can use parking facilities near Penguin Parking and TG IALA areas close to the stadium.
Visitors from Ramanthapur side can use the DSL and industrial lane parking options after taking a U-turn near DSL Mall.
Advisory for public
Police have urged the public to use public transport to avoid congestion and delays. They also advised commuters to plan travel in advance and follow traffic diversions on match days.
Officials said traffic regulation measures will be in place to ensure smooth movement and safety during the matches.
