Nari Shakti Forum’s Intervention Helps Single Mother Get Son’s Post-Mortem Report After Eight Months; DGP Refers Plea for Enquiry

Justice Delayed, But the Fight Continues: Nari Shakti Forum Stands with Renukamma

Bengaluru: After nearly eight months of waiting, Renukamma, a single mother from Kalaburagi, Karnataka, has finally received the post-mortem report of her 21-year-old son, Rishikesh, who died in Bengaluru on March 1, 2026. Supported by the Nari Shakti Forum, she has continued seeking answers about the circumstances surrounding his death and has approached senior police officials for intervention.

Renukamma met the Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) at the Police Headquarters in Bengaluru and submitted a written representation seeking an enquiry into her son’s death. Following the meeting, the DGP referred her representation to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), East Zone, for an enquiry, according to information shared by the Nari Shakti Forum.

The forum identified the officer as DCP East Zone Vikram Apte. The status and outcome of the proposed enquiry were not immediately available.

Renukamma suspects that her son’s death may not have been natural and has requested a thorough examination of the circumstances. In her representation, she also raised allegations of mental harassment, criminal intimidation and disputes involving family members at her ancestral residence in Kalaburagi. She stated that she had approached Chowk Police Station and other authorities with her complaints but continued to seek intervention from senior police officials.

According to the Nari Shakti Forum, Renukamma had made repeated efforts to obtain her son’s post-mortem report but was unable to secure it for several months. The forum said its intervention and continued support, along with Renukamma’s efforts, helped her obtain the document after nearly eight months of waiting.

The receipt of the report marks an important development in her efforts to seek answers. However, its contents have not been made available for independent examination, and the fact that the document has been received does not, by itself, establish the cause or circumstances of Rishikesh’s death.

The Nari Shakti Forum said it stood with Renukamma in her pursuit of justice, dignity and accountability. The forum reiterated its commitment to supporting single mothers facing personal, social and legal challenges, irrespective of geographical boundaries.

The forum said assisting a mother seeking answers about her son’s death was a responsibility it could not ignore, even amid other commitments. It said it would continue to support Renukamma as she pursues a fair enquiry and appropriate action from the authorities.

For Renukamma, obtaining the post-mortem report after months of waiting represents one step forward. However, the questions she has raised remain to be examined, and further action will depend on the findings of the relevant authorities.

The allegations raised by Renukamma have not been independently verified. The circumstances surrounding Rishikesh’s death and the complaints submitted by his mother remain subject to examination by the authorities.
