Hyderabad, 17 February : Telangana ranked fourth among states reporting complaints related to illegal migration to foreign countries, according to data presented by the Ministry of External Affairs in the Rajya Sabha.
The figures showed Andhra Pradesh recorded the highest number of cases in 2025 with 448 complaints, followed by Kerala with 238 and Delhi with 153, while Telangana reported 111 complaints. Since 2021, about 6,700 complaints have been registered nationwide, including 3,294 from Andhra Pradesh.
Officials said illegal migration often involves travel through unauthorised agents, forged documents or misuse of tourist visas for employment abroad. Many cases come to light only after migrants are detained or deported by foreign authorities.
The United Arab Emirates remains a major destination for migrants from the Telugu states, while agents have also begun advertising jobs in Cambodia and Myanmar. Parliament was informed that 3,505 unregistered agents have been listed on the eMigrate portal as of December 2025.
To assist Indians in distress overseas, the government has established Kendriya Pravasi Sahayata Kendras in Kochi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Lucknow, Patna and Chandigarh.
