GHMC steps up cleanliness near Charminar ahead of Ramzan

Hyderabad, 18 February: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation intensified its cleanliness drive around Charminar ahead of the holy month of Ramzan.

GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan inspected the surroundings of the monument and reviewed sanitation works at Mecca Masjid, Madina and nearby areas, which witness large public gatherings during the month. Officials were instructed to maintain cleanliness of roads and junctions during the period.

Additional Commissioner (Sanitation) Ravi Kiran and Charminar Zonal Commissioner Srinivas Reddy accompanied the Commissioner during the visit.

Meanwhile, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Sadar Majlis-e-Ulama-e-Deccan will hold its monthly meeting at 6 pm at Hussaini Building, Moazzam Jahi Market to decide the start date of Ramzan based on sighting of the crescent moon. Preparations have also been completed by several business establishments and restaurants across the city.
