On Wednesday morning, the second and final phase of Assembly elections began in Jharkhand, covering 38 constituencies across 12 districts.
With a total of 14,218 polling stations set up for this phase, including both urban and rural areas, strict security measures have been implemented with the deployment of 585 companies of central paramilitary forces, 60 companies of Jharkhand Armed Police, and 30,000 personnel from the district force and home guards.
The voting process is being closely monitored through webcasting and cameras installed at all centres. This phase covers constituencies in three divisions and has a total of 528 candidates vying for 1.23 crore voters’ support.
Prominent candidates in this phase include Chief Minister Hemant Soren from Barhait, BJP state president Babulal Marandi from Dhanwar, and Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato from Nala. Other notable figures include Congress’ Deepika Pandey Singh from Mahagama, Irfan Ansari from Jamtara, AJSU Party chief Sudesh Mahto from Silli and Kalpana Soren from Gandey.
The largest constituency in terms of area is Mandu in Hazaribagh district, while Bokaro has the highest number of voters registered. This phase of voting will play a crucial role in determining the future government of Jharkhand.
