Hyderabad Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announces Eid date for India

Hyderabad: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of the Deccan Muslim Ulema Council on Thursday announced that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in India on Saturday, March 21, as the Shawwal crescent moon was not sighted.

With the moon not visible, the holy month of Ramzan will complete 30 days, and the last fast will be observed on Friday.

Earlier in the evening, the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee held its customary meeting in Hyderabad to review reports of moon sighting received from different parts of the country. After verification, the committee confirmed that there was no authenticated sighting.

The committee, which makes announcements based on Shariah evidence, also appealed to the public to report any confirmed sightings following the established procedure.

Meanwhile, preparations for Eid-ul-Fitr have begun in different parts of the country, with markets witnessing increased activity as people get ready for the festival.

In Saudi Arabia, Eid is expected to be observed on Friday, following the completion of Ramzan there, as per local announcements regarding moon sighting.
