QUETTA: Nisar Ahmed Lehri, a local journalist working for a news agency, was killed by armed men in Mastung, Pakistan. Police rushed to the scene and shifted the body to Nawab Raisani Memorial Hospital.
The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and Balochistan Union of Journalists (BUJ) condemned the murder and called for the arrest of the killers.
They criticized the Balochistan government’s claims of protecting journalists, citing the number of media deaths in the province over the years as evidence of its failure. They argued that the killing of Lehri would exacerbate the sense of fear among media personnel in the province, stating that remote areas and main towns have become highly unsafe for media personnel.
They demanded that the government arrest all killers, including those responsible for Lehri’s murder.
