In the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar claimed credible intelligence indicating India might launch a military strike within 24 to 36 hours, issuing a warning of consequences. He alleged that India is fabricating claims of Pakistani involvement to justify aggression, emphasizing Pakistan’s long-standing victimization by terrorism.
Tarar suggested a neutral investigation into the claims, accusing India of avoiding accountability and opting for conflict. In response, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that the military has complete operational freedom to address the attack, promising severe repercussions for the perpetrators.
Modi hinted at a heightened diplomatic offensive against Pakistan, while Pakistan cautioned the international community about potential Indian military actions, suggesting any escalation would be India’s responsibility.
Following these tensions, reports surfaced of 1,450 Pakistani military personnel resigning in 72 hours, coinciding with heightened security measures in Pahalgam, which experienced a sharp decline in tourist activity after the attack that killed 26 people on April 22.
