PM reaffirms commitment to strengthen maritime sector and ports

Greeting everyone on the occasion of National Maritime Day, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed Government’s commitment to strengthen the maritime sector and ports for India’s progress.

PM Modi wrote on X, “Today, on National Maritime Day, we recall India’s rich maritime history and the role played by this sector in nation-building.We will continue to strengthen the maritime sector and our ports for India’s progress.”

National Maritime Day is observed on April 5 to commemorate the inaugural journey of the SS Loyalty, the first ship of The Scindia Steam Navigation Company, to the UK. Nationwide programs are held, and the ‘Varun’ prize recognizes exceptional contributions in maritime training, certification, and education, celebrating the commitment of individuals who have significantly impacted the maritime field.
