GHMC launches anti-begging drive, identifies 221 homeless

Hyderabad: In view of making Hyderabad a beggar-free city, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation ( GHMC) urban community development wing launched a special drive and identified 221 homeless people at traffic junctions.

As part of the drive, Some of them were shifted to night shelters, while a few more were sent back to their home towns.

The UCD wing officials visited traffic junctions and pavements at Basheerbagh, Nampally, Secretariat, and Begum Bazar, identifying the homeless people.

The officials shifted the homeless to night shelters located at various places in the city. People who migrated to the city and were involved in begging were sent to their home towns after being counselled.
