Asteroid OT7 to Make Close Flyby of Earth Today

A massive asteroid, roughly 170 feet wide and designated OT7, is expected to pass by Earth today. While the space rock will come closer than some satellites, experts stress there is no risk of impact.

NASA and global observatories are closely monitoring the asteroid’s trajectory using radar and optical tracking systems. The flyby is part of a series of near-Earth object events being studied to improve planetary defense systems.

This event highlights ongoing efforts to prepare for potential future threats from space. It also provides scientists with a valuable opportunity to gather data on asteroid composition, speed, and orbit patterns.
