Syed Mohammed Hussain Continues His Karate Winning Streak, Secures Silver Medal at 2022 FIKA US Open

New Delhi, 7 November: Syed Mohammed Hussain has once again solidified his position as the top karateka in India by securing a silver medal at the FIKA US Open Karate International Championship in 2022.


In a fiercely competitive Kumite division, Hussain outshone his American counterpart and triumphed over the USA’s top-ranked karateka for the second consecutive year. This remarkable feat took place on November 6th, 2022, during the prestigious event held in New York, USA. Competing in the men’s division for ages 18 to 34 and weighing in at -74 kg, Hussain displayed exceptional skill and proved himself as the country’s premier karateka.


His coach, Syed Iftquar Hussain, expressed elation at his protege’s triumph and spoke of their ambitions for a victorious showing at the upcoming Asian Games. This silver medal adds to Hussain’s impressive list of achievements, including his reign as the unrivalled national champion in his weight category for over a decade and international gold medals in the 2015 and 2018 Sharjah Open Championships.


Such extraordinary accomplishments have rightfully earned him recognition, including the esteemed Best Player Award from the Telangana government in 2021.
