Telangana launches ‘Tholimudda’ breakfast initiative for Anganwadi children

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday introduced the ‘Tholimudda’ breakfast programme aimed at strengthening nutrition support for children attending Anganwadi centres in Telangana.

The scheme was launched during a programme held at the Assembly premises. Under the initiative, children will receive ready-to-cook breakfast items including upma mix and khichdi mix as part of efforts to address nutritional deficiencies at an early age.

Speaking after launching the programme, the Chief Minister said that while food availability is no longer a major concern, ensuring balanced nutrition for children continues to require focused attention. He said proper food habits during childhood play an important role in long-term health and learning ability.

Revanth Reddy also referred to the role of Anganwadi workers and said the government would continue to address their service-related issues. He said steps were being taken to improve infrastructure and gradually move Anganwadi centres operating in rented buildings into permanent facilities.

Officials said the programme is intended to strengthen early childhood care and reduce nutrition-related health risks among children.
