First Phase of Lok Sabha Election’s Campaign will end today

Polling will take place on Tuesday at 5 pm on Tuesday, in eight seats in the first phase of Lok Sabha elections. 96 candidates are in the fray for the parliamentary seats in Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar. Polling for these seats will be held from 7 am to 6 pm on April 11.

13-13 in Kairana, Bijnor, Gautam Buddha Nagar and Baghpat, 12 in Ghaziabad, 11-11 in Sagarpur and Meerut and 10 candidates in Muzaffarnagar have been successful. For the first phase elections, 6716 polling booths and 16,581 polling booths have been created. There are around 1.50 crore voters in these eight Lok Sabha constituencies, 82.24 lakh men, 68.39 lakh women and 1014 third gender voters will use their franchise.

With the introduction of code of conduct for Lok Sabha elections, candidates had started campaigning in eight seats in the first phase. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held meetings in Meerut and Saharanpur on eight seats in Western UP. In the alliance, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, BSP supremo Mayawati and RLD president Ajit Singh held a joint session in Saharanpur on Sunday. Congress general secretary Priyanka Vadra also held meetings in several places and made a road show in Ghaziabad. Candidates and their supporters also campaigned by knocking at home, day by day, using Nook meetings and Choupal.

There is a triangular contest between BJP’s Raghav Lakhan Pal from Saharanpur, Imran Masood of Congress and Fazlurrahman of BSP. In Baghpat, there is a direct fight between Union Minister Satpal Singh and RLD Vice President Jayant Singh. In Muzaffarnagar, there is a collision between BJP’s Sanjeev Bialyan and RLD president Ajit Singh Chaudhary. There is a direct fight between BJP’s Pradeep Chaudhary and Tasum Hasan of SP. In the Ghaziabad, Union Minister BJP candidate, General V.K. Suresh Bansal of Lion and SP, is contesting between Gautam Buddha Nagar, Union Minister BJP candidate Dr. Mahesh Sharma and BSP’s Satvir Nagar. There is a direct fight between BJP’s Kunwar Bharatendra and BSP’s Malku Nagar in Bijnor.
