New Delhi : Amid uproar in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, the budget for the financial year 2023-24 for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir was passed by voice vote.
Lok Sabha resumed proceedings at 2 pm on Tuesday after morning adjournment. During this, the presiding officer Rajendra Agarwal started the discussion on the budget of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, currently under the Central Government. The discussion started on behalf of MP Jugal Kishore Sharma and only after that the process of passing the budget was also started. The budget was passed by a voice vote amid hue and cry.
On the other hand, the Rajya Sabha resumed in the afternoon after adjournment in the morning. During this, Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge raised the issue of Rahul Gandhi being a member of the second house. After this, due to uproar, the proceedings were adjourned till Thursday.
There will be a holiday in both the Houses on Wednesday. Wednesday is Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, on this day the Indian New Year begins. During this, various festivals are celebrated across the country. Demands for holiday were placed on behalf of the members of both the Houses. After that, new year greetings were given to the countrymen in both the Houses and a holiday was declared in the House on 22nd March.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha held a meeting with the leaders of all the parties in the Parliament House to discuss the resolution of the deadlock in the House. He said that it is our priority to run the House with the cooperation of all the parties. Everyone should try to ensure that all subjects are discussed in the House and legislative work is also done.
