Deadline Drama: Chief Secretary Sends Ultimatum to Junior Doctors in West Bengal

Kolkata: The recent developments in the ongoing protest of junior doctors in West Bengal have taken a new turn as Chief Secretary Manoj Pant has sent a fresh communique to the protesting doctors, giving a deadline of 5 p.m. on Thursday to send a delegation to the state secretariat Nabanna. However, the new communique has overruled two important conditions set by the junior doctors, regarding the number of delegation members and live telecast of the meeting.

The Chief Secretary has also made it clear that the Chief Minister is willing to meet the junior doctors. The protesting doctors, who have been demonstrating in front of the state health department headquarters for three days now, have received the communique and are discussing their next course of action.

The Joint Platform of Doctors has expressed solidarity with the junior doctors and threatened to join their protest if the state government takes any action against them. The senior doctors have also supported the demand for a live telecast of the meeting for transparency. In response to an earlier communique, the protesting doctors had set four conditions for a discussion, which were rejected by them on Wednesday afternoon.
