Voting begins in Tripura, 13.92 per cent voter turnout till 9 am

Agartala : Voting for the 2023 Assembly elections in Tripura began at 7 am amid heavy security. Voting has started in 60 assembly constituencies from 7 am today. People are standing in line since morning to cast their vote. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to all the voters of Tripura to exercise their franchise in record numbers and strengthen the biggest festival of democracy. He especially appealed to the youth to exercise their franchise. The Election Commission said that till 9 am, 13.92 percent polling has been done.

Significantly, there are a total of 28 lakh 13 thousand 478 voters in Tripura. Of these, there are 14 lakh 14 thousand 576 male, 13 lakh 98 thousand 825 female and 77 third gender voters. It has been informed by the Chief Electoral Office that polling is going on smoothly till now. Whereas, Tripura has a total of 3337 polling stations. Model polling stations have been set up in all the 60 assembly constituencies. Along with this, voting is being done by Divyangjan alone at 44 polling stations. 120 polling stations are being used only by women.
Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gethe on Wednesday appealed to all voters of Tripura to exercise their right to vote fearlessly. He assured to make all arrangements for peaceful polling. Apart from this, all necessary arrangements have been made for voters at all polling stations.
