Thirty-seven Indian deep-tech startups and ventures are showcasing their technologies at the Bharat Innovates Exposition in New Delhi, giving young innovators an opportunity to meet investors, companies and representatives from BRICS countries during India’s BRICS presidency.
The two-day exposition began on Friday at Bharat Mandapam and has been organised by the Education Ministry in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs.
The focus is not simply on displaying technology.
The startups are getting opportunities for business discussions, technology partnerships, investment and possible access to international markets.
For young founders, that matters.
Building a startup in India is one challenge. Finding the right investor, customer or international partner can be an entirely different one.
The BRICS platform gives these companies a chance to put their ideas in front of people from a much larger market.
It also shows how India’s youth story is changing.
Young Indians are not entering technology only as employees. Increasingly, they are building companies around areas such as deep technology, artificial intelligence and other emerging fields.
At the Global Fintech Festival in Mumbai, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also pointed to India’s young population as a major part of the country’s expanding technology and fintech ecosystem, saying young people are creating platforms, enterprises and new solutions.
For the 37 startups at Bharat Innovates, the next test is no longer simply whether an idea works.
Can it find investment, customers and a place in the global market?
That is where India’s startup story gets serious.
