Joshua Cheptegei set to take on TCS World 10K Bengaluru this Sunday

Joshua Cheptegei’s international journey, which began in Bengaluru, is taking a new direction as he participates in the TCS World 10K after 11 years. The two-time Olympic gold medalist and world record holder views this race as the start of a new chapter in his career.

Bengaluru holds sentimental value for him; it was here in 2014 that he took his first international trip and subsequently gained the confidence to secure a gold medal in the 10,000 meters at the World Junior Athletics Championship. Now, at 28, Cheptegei is transitioning from track to road races, stating his achievements on the track have been substantial, and it’s time to move forward.

He considers winning gold in the 10,000 meters at the 2024 Paris Olympics his most significant accomplishment, emphasizing that he couldn’t end his track career without that gold.

With his sights now set on road racing, Cheptegei aims to make an impact in this new domain, beginning his journey once again in Bengaluru, the city where it all started for him.
