In the 15th match of IPL 2025, the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) triumphed over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by a convincing 80 runs at Eden Gardens, marking SRH’s worst defeat by runs in IPL history. KKR, batting first, amassed 200 runs in 20 overs, while SRH collapsed for just 120 runs in 16.4 overs.
The match commenced poorly for SRH as their top order crumbled, with Travis Head (4), Abhishek Sharma (2), and Ishan Kishan (2) departing early. The middle order, including Nitish Reddy (19), Kamindu Mendis (27), and Heinrich Klaasen (33), provided insufficient support, resulting in a swift all-out.
KKR faced a shaky start too, losing openers Sunil Narine (7) and Quinton de Kock (1) for just 16 runs. However, captain Ajinkya Rahane (38) and Angariks Raghuwanshi (50) steadied the innings with an 81-run partnership for the third wicket. Venkatesh Iyer (60) and Rinku Singh (32*) then propelled KKR with a notable 91-run partnership, turning the game around. Iyer struck a fifty off a mere 25 balls, concluding his innings with 60 runs off 29 deliveries.
KKR’s bowlers dominated, with Vaibhav Arora and Varun Chakravarthy claiming three wickets each, while Andre Russell took two. For SRH, only Mohammad Shami, Pat Cummins, Zeeshan Ansari, Harshal Patel, and Kamindu Mendis managed to take one wicket each.
