TATA IPL 2025: SRH replaces Zampa with R Smaran;Adam Zampa has been ruled out with an unspecified injury

In IPL 2025, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has signed young batsman Ravi Chandran Smaran from Karnataka after Adam Zampa’s injury. The 21-year-old left-handed batsman was brought in for a base price of 3 million rupees.

Smaran has excelled in first-class cricket, amassing over 500 runs at an average of 64.50, including a double century against Punjab. He debuted in List-A cricket in 2024, scoring 433 runs at an average of 72.16 with two centuries.

SRH currently sits at the bottom of the points table and must win every match to qualify for the playoffs.

Smaran Ravichandran experienced several setbacks in his cricketing career before making waves in the CK Nayudu Trophy, where he scored 829 runs, earning widespread attention. He showcased his talent in the Maharaja T20 tournament, amassing 302 runs in nine innings with an impressive average of 43.14 and a strike rate of 145.19, including one century and two half-centuries. Following notable performances at junior levels, he debuted for Karnataka in the 2024-25 Indian domestic season, playing seven first-class matches and scoring 516 runs at a remarkable average of 64.50. As of April 2025, Ravichandran secured an IPL contract with Sunrisers Hyderabad, stepping in for star spinner Adam Zampa for the IPL 2025 season.
