Temple employee slapped Foreign Ministry official in Ujjain

A case of mistreatment involving Sumit Kumar, a Ministry of External Affairs official, occurred at Mangala Nath Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. While visiting with family for a ‘Bhat Puja’, Kumar and his son entered the sanctum prematurely after obtaining a receipt, prompting an aggressive response from computer operator Omprakash Thakur, who slapped Kumar and expelled him. Kumar’s family also faced mistreatment.

A video of the incident led to Thakur’s arrest by Chimanganj Mandi police. Temple manager KK Pathak condemned the actions and stated disciplinary measures would follow, emphasizing that such behavior damages the temple’s reputation.
