On Navy Day, the three army chiefs paid tribute to the martyrs at the National War Memorial

New Delhi : The three service chiefs paid tribute to the martyrs at the National War Memorial, lauding the heroic feat of bombing and destroying the Karachi port in Operation Trident during the 1971 war with Pakistan, on Navy Day, today.

This year for the first time Navy Day celebrations are being held outside the national capital at Visakhapatnam. President Draupadi Murmu, Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces will witness the event as a special guest. In this event, the Navy is set to showcase India’s combat power and capability through ‘Operational Demonstration’.

India celebrates 04 December every year as Navy Day to remember the role and achievements of the Indian Navy in ‘Operation Trident’ during the 1971 war with Pakistan. Armed Forces Chief CDS General Anil Chauhan, Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar, Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary and Vice Army Chief Lt Gen BS Raju paid tributes to the martyrs at the National War Memorial on the occasion of Navy Day. Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar said that we are ready at all times to protect, preserve and promote India’s national interests.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh congratulated all personnel of the Indian Navy on Navy Day. He said that the Indian Navy is at the forefront of keeping our country safe by ensuring impeccable maritime security. The nation is proud of the valor, courage, commitment and professionalism of the Indian Navy.

Chief of the Army Staff General Manoj Pandey and all ranks of the Indian Army extended Navy Day greetings to all ranks, veterans and families of the Indian Navy and said that the pride and success of the Indian Navy will always be there. Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary and all personnel of the Indian Air Force extended greetings and best wishes to the Indian Navy on the occasion of Navy Day.

Defence Secretary Giridhar Armane greeted Indian Navy personnel on Navy Day. He said that the blue water capability of the Indian Navy helps the country to expand its reach and benign influence across the world. The Government is committed to modernization with a focus on making our Navy self-reliant. On behalf of the Ministry of Defence, it was said that congratulations to all the men and women in white who ensure our maritime security. The nation salutes the valor and bravery of its maritime force.
