Supreme Court to hear plea seeking Ranveer Allahbadia’s passport case on April 28

The Supreme Court will hear the petition demanding the release of controversial YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia’s passport on April 28. During today’s hearing, the bench headed by Justice Surya Kant stated that the investigation in Ranveer Allahbadia’s case is complete. Now, the hearing will focus on the demand for the release of the passport.

On April 1, Ranveer Allahbadia undertook before the Supreme Court that he would maintain a certain level of morality in his show so that people of all ages could watch it. On March 3, the court had granted Ranveer Allahbadia relief by allowing him to continue his show. The court had asked Ranveer to give an undertaking to maintain a level of morality in his show to make it suitable for viewers of all ages. The court mentioned that this relief was granted because 280 people’s livelihoods are associated with this show. After this court order, Allahbadia provided the undertaking.

Abhinav Chandrachud, appearing on behalf of Allahbadia, demanded that Allahbadia’s passport be released so that he could go abroad. At that time, the court asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta when the investigation in this matter would be completed. Mehta responded that the investigation is expected to be completed in two weeks. The court then asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta how long the investigation would take to complete. Mehta stated that he expected the investigation to be completed within two weeks. The Supreme Court had stated that Ranveer would not leave the country without the court’s permission and must deposit his passport at the police station.
