Telangana had been left empty-hand: KTR

Hyderabad: BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao on Saturday criticised the BJP leadership, alleging that even Union Ministers and Members of Parliament from Telangana had failed to effectively present the state’s concerns in Parliament.

Referring to the 2026–27 Union Budget, he claimed that Telangana did not receive adequate attention, while several other states were granted significant allocations for infrastructure and development projects.

Rama Rao pointed out that several long-pending demands of the state were not addressed. These included granting national project status to the Palamuru–Ranga Reddy irrigation project, expansion of the Hyderabad Metro Rail, progress on the Regional Ring Road, sanctioning of new railway lines, establishment of a railway coach factory in Warangal, setting up of premier institutions such as IIT and IIM, development of the proposed Bayyaram steel plant and support for a mega textile park in Sircilla.

He stated that these projects were crucial for the state’s industrial growth, employment generation and infrastructure expansion. He further maintained that continued neglect of such proposals could impact Telangana’s development prospects.

Rama Rao said the people of Telangana were closely observing the Centre’s approach towards the state and expected their elected representatives to strongly articulate regional priorities at the national level.

He asserted that the BRS would continue to raise these issues both inside and outside legislative forums to safeguard the interests of Telangana. Emphasising the need for equitable federal support, he said development should be balanced across all states without political considerations. He added that the party would continue to question what it described as step-motherly treatment towards Telangana and press for pending commitments until they are addressed. He reiterated that the state’s development aspirations and pending projects would remain a key focus of the party’s political agenda in the coming months.
