Mamata’s Opposition Unity Rally Will Keep Rahul and Mayawati away

Prior to the Lok Sabha elections, the fight for leadership has just begun among opposition parties. West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress chief is organizing a rally on the Brigade Parade Ground of Kolkata on Saturday, which according to him will be much larger than the rallies organized in the country till date. Through this rally, Mamta wants to set herself as the Prime Ministerial candidate of the United Progressive Alliance. This is probably the reason why two such leaders of the opposition have shunned the rally, who consider themselves as the prime minister’s poster.
Mamata Banerjee had invited Congress President Rahul Gandhi and BSP President Mayawati to address the rally but she decided to send her own representative instead of going to Kolkata. In the Lok Sabha, Congress Parliamentary Party leader Mallikarjun Kharge will be the representative of Rahul Gandhi, while Mayawati has decided to send her to BSP general secretary Satish Chandra Mishra.

Political observers of Kolkata believe that the biggest rally till date was in the 90’s by then Chief Minister and CPI (M) leader Jyoti Basu addressed the parade ground. Mamta Banerjee wants to break her record. He estimates that seven to eight lakh people will come in the rally. Trinamool Congress has arranged for eight lakh people to come, eat and stay in the rally.

In order to participate in the rally, party workers started reaching in Kolkata on Wednesday. According to sources, the party has vowed to eat and stay of one lakh people on Thursday. In this rally, top leaders of almost all of the non-NDA parties have been invited. According to Trinamool party sources, leaders of 19 parties have given their approval to participate
