Delhi/Washington: The United States has made it clear that it recognizes Arunachal Pradesh as Indian territory and strongly opposes any attempts by China to unilaterally advance its territorial claims. This statement was made by a senior Biden administration official in response to the Chinese military’s recent claim over the state, following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit there.
China has long claimed Arunachal Pradesh as part of South Tibet and has objected to Indian leaders’ visits to the region. However, India has repeatedly rejected these claims and maintains that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral part of its territory. The recent dedication of the Sela Tunnel by Prime Minister Modi further solidifies India’s control over the strategically important region.
The US has reaffirmed its support for India in this matter and emphasized the need for all countries to respect international borders and refrain from any actions that could escalate tensions.
