Eid Celebrations across India marked by prayers, harmony and peaceful gatherings

New Delhi: Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated across India on Saturday with prayers, community gatherings and exchanges of greetings, as people marked the conclusion of the holy month of Ramzan.

Large congregations gathered at mosques and Eidgahs in several cities including Delhi, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Kolkata and Srinagar, where devotees offered special prayers and conveyed messages of peace and social harmony.

Authorities in major cities made routine security arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of prayers and festivities. Officials said celebrations passed peacefully in most places.

Calls for peace and unity

Political leaders and public representatives across states extended Eid greetings, highlighting the importance of communal harmony and coexistence.

In some locations, small groups also expressed concern over international developments through peaceful demonstrations after prayers. Officials said the situations remained under control and there were no major disturbances.

Jaipur reflects spirit of harmony

In Jaipur, residents said the festival reflected the city’s shared cultural traditions, with people from different communities exchanging greetings and visiting each other on the occasion.

Local community members said festivals often become opportunities to strengthen social ties and mutual respect, reflecting long-standing traditions of coexistence in the city.

Festival of compassion and charity

Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of the fasting month of Ramzan, is traditionally associated with charity, community bonding and outreach to the underprivileged.

Across cities, families gathered to celebrate the festival, while community organisations also organised charitable activities in keeping with the spirit of the occasion.

Officials said overall celebrations remained peaceful, with authorities maintaining normal monitoring as part of festival management.
