EC’s public hearing on the rescheduling of constituencies in Assam starts today

Guwahati, July 19: The Election Commission is starting a public hearing on the rescheduling of constituencies in Assam today. In view of the protests taking place in the state, the Commission made some changes to the pre-scheduled programme. In this regard, the commission released the revised schedule through notification on Tuesday.

The commission team will hold a meeting with representatives of Kamrup Metro, West Karbi Anglong, Chirang, Baksa, and Dima Hasao districts today at the Srimanta Sankardev International Auditorium of Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra. It may be mentioned that the representatives of Kamrup will sit in hall number 3 of the Shrimant Sankardev Kalakshetra International Auditorium, and the representatives of Udalguri, Karbi Anglong, and Kokrajhar districts will sit in the Sri Sri Madhavdev Auditorium.

Apart from these, representatives of Goalpara, Bangaigaon, Barpeta, Nalbari, Shonitpur, and Karimganj will sit on July 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in hall number 3 of the Shrimant Sankardev International Auditorium, as will representatives of Darrang, Hailakandi, Cachar, and South Salmara.

Representatives of Nagaon, Morigaon, and Dhubri districts will participate in the Sri Sri Madhavdev Auditorium. Srimanta Sankardeva will sit in the International Auditorium at Kalakshetra till 3:30 pm to interact with representatives of national and regional political parties.

On July 21, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., representatives of Tinsukia, Dhemaji, and Lakhimpur districts and representatives of Dibrugarh, Charaideo, Golaghat, and Majuli districts will sit in the Shrimant Sankardev International Auditorium. The Election Commission team has reached Guwahati to hear about this.
