Vijayawada: After taking the oath of office, Chandrababu Naidu, the newly elected Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, was overcome with emotion and hugged Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of political leaders and celebrities, as well as thousands of people. Naidu took the oath in Telugu to the sound of cheering from the audience.
PM Modi presented him with a bouquet to congratulate him on his new role. Naidu’s emotional display was due in part to a recent incident where his wife was allegedly insulted by some members of the opposition party. His son, Nara Lokesh, also took the oath as a minister and received blessings from his father, PM Modi, and the Governor. In total, 24 ministers from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) were sworn in at the ceremony.
This included representatives from TDP, Jana Sena, and BJP, who together won a majority of seats in the assembly. Naidu had been elected as their leader in separate meetings held the day before. With a strong mandate behind him, Naidu is now faced with the task of leading Andhra Pradesh towards progress and development.
