Gujarat Assembly Elections 2022 Updates : LIVE

The first phase of Gujarat Assembly elections in 89 seats is currently underway. The 89 seats up for election are spread across 19 districts in Saurashtra-Kutch and the state’s south.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) reports that 788 candidates are running in the first phase.

Voting will take place today between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 14,382 polling locations. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which has ruled Gujarat for the past 27 years, is attempting to retain power for the seventh time in a row.

In the 2017 election, the BJP won 48 of the 89 seats up for grabs in the first phase, the Congress won 40, and an independent candidate won one.

56.88% Voter Turnout Recorded Till 5 PM In First Phase


The first phase of Gujarat Assembly elections has concluded.


The first phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections in 89 seats across 19 districts in the Saurashtra-Kutch and southern regions concluded at 5 p.m. on Thursday.
While final voting figures were not yet available, the Election Commission reported a 48.48% turnout until 3 p.m.

With the exception of a few minor incidents and reports of problems with the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), the voting process, which began at 8 a.m., was largely peaceful.
The second round of voting will take place on December 5, and the results will be on December 8.

Gujarat Elections: 34.38% voter turnout till 1 pm


A maximum number of people cast their votes till 1 pm in Dang and Tapi.

Polling is underway in 19 of the state’s 33 districts. Up to 34.38 per cent polling has been recorded till 1 pm. In Tapi district, 46.35 per cent people voted till 1 pm. After this, 46.22 percent people voted in Dang district. The lowest voter turnout of around 30 per cent was recorded in Botad, Jamanagar and Porbandar. Apart from this, 32 in Amreli, 35 in Bharuch, 32.74 in Bhavnagar, 33.89 in Devbhoomi Dwarka, 36 in Gir Somnath, 32.96 in Junagadh, 33.44 in Kutch, 38.61 in Morbi, 46.13 in Narmada, 39.20 in Navsari, 32.88 in Rajkot, Surat 33.10, 34.18 in Surendranagar and 38 per cent polling was recorded in Valsad.

26.5 % voter turnout recorded till 11 AM

Till 11 am, maximum polling was recorded in Tapi district at 26.5 percent, Dang district at 25 percent, Narmada at 23.73 percent, Tapi at 26.47 percent, Morbi at 22.27 percent. Apart from this, Devbhoomi Dwarka has the lowest 15.86 percent, Bharuch 17.57 percent, Jamnagar 17.85 percent, Valsad 19.57 percent, Navsari 21.79 percent, Amreli 19 percent, Bhavnagar 18.84 percent, Botad 18.50 percent, Junagadh 18.85 percent, Kutch 17.62 percent, Surendranagar 20.67 percent. Vote recorded.
