IMD Issues Thunderstorm and Lightning Warning for Assam: Heavy Rainfall Expected in Kamrup, Dibrugarh, and More

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm and lightning warning for 11 districts in Assam, including key areas such as Kamrup, Dibrugarh, and Jorhat. The alert forecasts moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds and lightning over the next 48 hours, urging residents to take precautionary measures to stay safe during this period of unstable weather.

Continuous rainfall has already caused significant waterlogging in parts of Dibrugarh, disrupting daily life and traffic movement. Local authorities are actively working to clear drainage systems and assist affected communities, aiming to reduce the impact of the ongoing pre-monsoon showers.

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has activated emergency response plans and urged citizens to stay indoors during thunderstorms, avoid open areas, and keep updated with the latest weather advisories to ensure safety amid the monsoon season.
