Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath warmly welcomed US Vice President JD Vance, along with his wife and children, at Agra Air Force Station by presenting them with a bouquet of flowers. Vice President Vance appeared delighted with the reception. He arrived at the airbase around 10 am on Wednesday via Air Force Two. In honor of his visit, cultural performances, including a peacock dance, were showcased at the airport. Following the welcome, Vance and his family traveled in a Beast vehicle to the iconic Taj Mahal, with the route from the airport adorned for the occasion and school children present to greet them.
The Vance family visited Agra on their third day in India to experience the Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, before heading to Jaipur later that day and leaving India on Thursday morning. Photo opportunities showcased the family exploring the monument.
“The Taj Mahal is amazing. A testament to true love, human ingenuity and a tribute to the great country of India,” Mr. Vance wrote in the visitor’s diary after taking a tour of the iconic monument.
Leading up to the visit, the UP government implemented extensive preparations to present Agra positively, aiming to counter the city’s past ‘ghost town’ perception from former President Bill Clinton’s visit in 2000. This time, 1,200 students and folk performers lined the route from the airport to Shilpgram, reinforcing the vibrant atmosphere under heavy security.
