Moscow: “Michael”, the biographical film based on the life of legendary pop icon Michael Jackson, has become the highest-grossing biopic of all time, earning $977 million at the worldwide box office, according to media reports.
The film surpassed the previous record held by Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer”, which grossed $975 million globally.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, “Michael” stars Jaafar Jackson, the late singer’s nephew, in the lead role. The film had its world premiere in Berlin on April 10.
Michael Jackson, widely known as the “King of Pop”, remains one of the most successful and influential performers in music history. During his career, he won 15 Grammy Awards and numerous other honours. His recordings have sold more than one billion copies worldwide, while his contributions to music, dance and fashion have had a lasting global impact.
