Khichdi Scam: Shiv Sena Leader Summoned by ED for Misuse of Funds

Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Shiv Sena UBT leader Amol Kirtikar today in connection with the ‘Khichdi’ scam. The scam involves alleged irregularities in the purchase of 24 thermal scanners by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) at inflated prices during the COVID-19 pandemic last year. According to sources, Kirtikar has been asked to appear before the agency for questioning. The Shiv Sena leader’s name had surfaced during the ED’s investigation into the scam, and he is likely to be questioned about his role in the purchase of these thermal scanners. The ED had earlier summoned several other BMC officials and politicians for questioning in this case.

The agency is also looking into possible money laundering and corruption charges in connection with the scam. The ED’s investigation is part of a larger probe into alleged corruption and financial irregularities in government purchases during the pandemic, and Kirtikar’s summons is the latest development in this ongoing investigation.
