Manipur Assembly Elections : Voting begins, 9.9% voting recorded till 9am in phase-1

On Monday, the first phase of voting for the Manipur Assembly election began In the first of two phases of the election, voters in 38 assembly constituencies across the state went to the polls.
In this round, a total of 173 candidates are competing, including 15 women. Voting began at 7:00 a.m. and will end at 4:00 p.m. Voters who are Covid positive or under quarantine will be allowed to vote at the last possible moment, between 3 and 4 p.m.
“In Phase I, a total of 12,09,439 voters will exercise their franchise across 1,721 polling stations, including 5,80,607 males, 6,28,657 females, and 175 transgender voters. In these 38 assembly constituencies, there are a total of 10,041 PWD voters and 251 centenarian voters “Rajesh Agrawal, Manipur’s Chief Electoral Officer, confirmed the reports.
On February 28 and March 5, elections for the 60-member Manipur Assembly will be held in two phases.
