Missing Indian student Vanshika found dead in Ottawa beach

Vanshika, an Indian student studying in Ottawa, has been found dead, confirmed by the Indian High Commission in Canada, though details surrounding her death remain undisclosed.

On April 29, the Embassy expressed condolences on X (formerly Twitter) and noted that local authorities are investigating while collaborating with her family and community groups.

Vanshika had gone missing after leaving home on April 25 to view rental rooms, turning her phone off and failing to attend a significant exam. Her behavior was out of character, prompting friends and family to report her uncontactable since that evening.The Ottawa Indo-Canadians Association sought information from anyone who might have seen her.

Vanshika had come to Canada for post-high school studies following her Grade 12 graduation in India and is the daughter of a political figure in India. Her family perceives her death as a homicide.

A missing persons alert was issued, describing her last known movements and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance. Further information is still awaited.
