India’s double Olympic medalist, javelin throw athlete Neeraj Chopra confirmed on Tuesday that he will kick off the 2025 season with the Diamond League meet in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on May 16. Chopra, who won a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics and a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, expressed his eagerness to perform once again in front of the world’s most passionate athletics audience in Doha. He had achieved victory in 2023 at the Qatar Sports Club with a world record throw of 88.67 meters.
Chopra, a 27-year-old athlete under coach Jan Železný, has transformed Indian athletics. He achieved historic golds in the Olympics and World Championships, as well as a Diamond League win, despite facing tough competition last season, finishing second in crucial events.
