NIA begins Tahawwur Rana’s interrogation

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has initiated questioning of Tahawwur Hussain Rana, the main accused in the Mumbai attacks, at its Delhi headquarters. Rana is under tight security in a CCTV-monitored cell, with limited movement and minimal access for NIA officials.

The investigation is being led by NIA’s deputy inspector general Jaya Roy, who is also the chief investigating officer, they said

The interrogation aims to uncover information about his handler in Pakistan, funding sources, local sleeper cells, and his business partners in India. Authorities will also explore connections to David Headley and the distribution of funds.

Rana was extradited from the U.S. and arrested upon his arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport.The chartered jet normally returned via Pakistan but avoided airspace while transporting Tahawwur Rana on Thursday.

Following his presentation in a special court, he was remanded to NIA custody for 18 days before being taken to the headquarters for further questioning, which commenced today.
