‘Some people have habit of crying’: PM Modi critiques CM Stalin’s complaints about funding issues

Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted on Sunday that the central government has tripled funding for Tamil Nadu’s development over the last decade compared to 2014, emphasizing the state’s crucial role in India’s progress. He criticized the ruling party in Tamil Nadu for unwarranted complaints and noted the lack of Tamil signatures on official letters from local leaders.

PM Modi pointed out that prior to 2014, only ₹900 crore was allocated annually for rail projects, whereas the current budget exceeds ₹6,000 crore, with improvements at 77 railway stations, including the Rameswaram station. The Ayushman Bharat scheme has benefited over 1 crore people in Tamil Nadu, saving them ₹8,000 crore, and there are now over 1,400 Jan Aushadhi Kendras, saving citizens around ₹700 crore. During his visit to Tamil Nadu, Modi inaugurated India’s first vertical lift sea bridge, the new Pamban rail bridge, and flagged off related transport operations. He also laid the foundation stone for various projects in Rameswaram worth over ₹8,300 crore and addressed a public gathering.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the safety and well-being of fishermen is the government’s top priority, highlighting that over 3,700 fishermen have been successfully repatriated from Sri Lanka in the last decade, including 600 in the past year. Efforts were made to secure the return of those sentenced to death. He also spoke about the national development, noting the rapid progress of major projects and a sixfold increase in the budget for infrastructure—including railways, roads, airports, and utilities—over the past ten years. Notable projects include the ‘Chenab Bridge’ in Jammu and Kashmir, the ‘Atal Setu’ sea bridge in Mumbai, and the ‘Bogibeel Bridge’ in Assam. During the Bharatiya Janata Party’s foundation day, he commended the dedication of party workers, stating that their efforts have contributed to the vision of a strong, prosperous India. He conveyed that citizens are currently experiencing the benefits of good governance by the BJP and a sense of national pride among Indians is growing.
