TSDCA seizes unauthorised antibiotics worth Rs 1.33 crore

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Drug Control Administration (TSDCA) seized a huge stock of antibiotics worth Rs 1.33 crore which were manufactured by other pharmaceutical companies, were falsely exported under the name of Jodas Expoim Pvt. Ltd, located in Biotech Park, Karkapatla, Siddipet district.

During verification, officials noticed that, staggering quantity of 38,175 vials of antibiotic Ampicillin plus Sulbactam (1000 mg plus 500 mg Injections, Batch No. JD4479), was falsely labeled as manufactured by Jodas Expoim Pvt. Ltd., India, Alpa Laboratories Ltd., 33/2, A.B. Road, Pigdamber, Indore, MP 453446, India.

The officers detected that certain stocks of other antibiotics, namely Amoxicillin 1000 mg plus Clavulanic Acid 200 mg, Ampicillin plus Sulbactam 2000 mg plus 1000 mg, and Meropenem 500 mg. The stocks of antibiotics worth Rs. 1.33 crore were seized for contravening the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
