Woman who sent a poisoned letter to Trump sentenced to 22 years in prison

Washington: A Canadian woman has been sentenced by a court for sending a poisoned letter to former US President Donald Trump during his tenure. District Judge Dabney Frederick sentenced 56-year-old Pascale Ferrier to 22 years in prison, according to local media reports. He will be deported from the US after serving his sentence. If she ever returns, she will face a lifetime of surveillance.

Judge Frederick told the woman that her actions were pernicious and harmful to society. Media reports say that Pascale Ferrier has dual citizenship in France and Canada. Ferrier told the court he was sorry his plan had failed. She sees herself as an activist, not a terrorist. Ferrier was arrested in September 2020 while crossing the border in Buffalo, New York. She was carrying a gun, knife, and ammunition.

In 2014, a Mississippi man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for sending ricin-laced letters to then-President Barack Obama and other officials.
