Munugodu by-election: Rs 2.70 crore in unaccounted cash seized

Hyderabad : Unaccounted cash worth Rs 2.70 crore was seized following the implementation of the model code of conduct for the Munugodu assembly constituency by-elections in Telangana. Officials from the Election Commission provided this information today.

According to the Chief Electoral Office’s information, Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj has been quoted as saying that the Excise Department has so far registered 94 cases related to elections in the constituency. In addition, 44 people have been arrested, and 19 FIRs have been filed.

Byelections in the state are being held on November 3 due to the resignation of sitting Congress MLA Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy. He had recently become a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). On November 6, the votes will be counted.

Meanwhile, in the context of the Munugodu by-election, Police Commissioner Mahesh Muralidhar Bhagwat assessed the situation by visiting sensitive polling stations. According to information released by his office, Mahesh Bhagwat had appointed S. Lingottam, Jay Kesaram, Nelipatla, and Lingannagudem polling stations were all visited. During this time, he met with IAS officer Pankaj Kumar, an election observer, and reviewed the election process. The Munugodu assembly by-elections will be held peacefully, thanks to tight security arrangements.
The Election Commission recently unveiled a new revised EPIC (Election Photo Identity Card) design with six security features, including a hologram. EPIC cards with security features will be provided free of charge to all voters who have enrolled but have not yet received cards.
