TATA IPL 2025:RR secures first season win, defeating CSK

Guwahati:Rajasthan Royals secured a thrilling victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 6 runs on Sunday. After winning the toss, CSK’s captain opted to bowl first. Rajasthan posted a total of 182 runs, largely due to Nitish Rana’s impressive innings of 81 runs off just 36 balls, alongside Sanju Samson’s contribution of 20 runs. The Royals had a rocky start but managed to stabilize with Rana and captain Riyan Parag, who scored 37 runs. In the final overs, Shimron Hetmyer added 19 runs to help set the target.

In response, CSK struggled to chase the target of 183 runs. Ruturaj Gaikwad played a commendable innings, scoring 63 runs off 44 balls, but lacked support as others faltered; Rahul Tripathi contributed 23 runs, Shivam Dube scored 18, and MS Dhoni managed only 16 runs before being dismissed.

Jadeja remained not out with 32 runs but could not pull off a victory as CSK fell short with only 176 runs. CSK needed 20 runs in the last over but could only muster 16 under pressure. Wanindu Hasaranga shone for Rajasthan with 4 wickets, while Khaleel Ahmed, Noor Ahmed, and Mathisha Pathirana each claimed 2 wickets for CSK.
