IPL 2025: DC defeats SRH by 7 wicket

The 10th match of IPL 2025 featured Delhi Capitals facing off against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Sunday. Delhi secured a 7-wicket victory, marking their second consecutive win and pushing Hyderabad to their second straight loss after an initial win.

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to bat, managing to score 163 runs before being bowled out in just 18.4 overs. In reply, Delhi Capitals successfully chased the target in 16 overs, scoring 166 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. As a result, Delhi now sits in second place on the points table with two wins from two matches, while Hyderabad is positioned sixth with one win and two losses from three matches.

Delhi Capitals started their chase strongly, with opening batsmen Faf du Plessis and Jack Fraser-McGurk forming a solid partnership of 81 runs for the first wicket. Du Plessis reached a half-century, scoring 50 runs off 27 balls, including 3 fours and 3 sixes, before being dismissed soon after. Following his wicket, McGurk contributed 38 runs off 32 balls, but the team experienced a quick succession of wickets next, with KL Rahul scoring 15 runs before his dismissal.

However, Abhishek Porel and Tristan Stubbs stepped up to guide the team to victory. Porel remained unbeaten with 34 runs off 18 balls, showcasing his skills with 2 fours and 2 sixes, while Stubbs added a solid 21 runs off 14 balls, ensuring Delhi’s triumph.
Sunrisers Hyderabad struggled in their innings, scoring a total of 163 runs before being bowled out in just 18.4 overs. The start was disastrous, as they lost four wickets during the powerplay. Abhishek Verma and Ishan Kishan managed only 1 and 2 runs respectively, while Nitish Kumar Reddy went out for a duck. Travis Head managed to score 22 runs off 12 balls, but it wasn’t enough to stabilize the innings.

The young duo of Aniket Verma and Heinrich Klaasen played crucial roles in advancing the score, helping the team reach over 100 runs. Unfortunately, Klaasen fell next, contributing 32 runs off 19 balls. Aniket Verma continued to push the score, showcasing an impressive innings of 74 runs from 41 balls, which included 5 fours and 6 sixes. However, his departure marked the end of resistance, and the Sunrisers were unable to complete their 20 overs, collapsing for 163 runs. Other notable contributions were minimal; Pat Cummins made 2 runs, Abhinav Manohar scored 4, Harshal Patel added 5, and Vian Mulder chipped in with 9 runs.

On the bowling front, Delhi’s Mitchell Starc was outstanding, claiming 5 wickets and severely denting Hyderabad’s batting efforts. Kuldeep Yadav also had a significant impact with 3 wickets, while Mohit Sharma contributed with 1 wicket. Overall, it was a disappointing performance by the Sunrisers, with their batting lineup failing to build a substantial innings against a disciplined Delhi bowling attack.
