Tahawwur Hussain Rana, the mastermind behind the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, was arrested upon his arrival in India and presented in Patiala House Court. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) sought 20 days of custody but received 18 days instead.
The closed court proceedings involved Rana’s lawyer and NIA prosecutor, who argued for custody based on strong evidence, including emails crucial to interrogating him about his role in the attacks. The NIA emphasized Rana’s ties with David Coleman Headley, the operation’s orchestrator, and noted his communication with other conspirators. The Mumbai attacks on November 26, 2008, involved ten terrorists and resulted in numerous deaths. With strict security measures in place, the NIA is set to interrogate Rana at their headquarters to uncover further details of the conspiracy.
