Notice to Tihar administration on leaking of CCTV footage of jail in the media

New Delhi: Delhi government minister Satyendar Jain, who is jailed in a money laundering case, through his lawyer, has filed an application seeking a direction to the media (television, digital or print) not to play any CCTV footage inside the jail. Filed in the Avenue Court. While hearing the application, Special Judge Vikas Dhul issued a notice to the Tihar Jail Administration.

The petition sought directions to probe how the video of the jail was leaked. During the hearing, Jain’s lawyer said that the video has been tampered with. The Director General of Prisons should tell who is releasing the video if the media trial going on.

It is noteworthy that Satyendar Jain has also filed a contempt application accusing the ED of leaking the video of the jail. It has been said on behalf of Jain that ED leaked the CCTV video despite giving an undertaking to the court. Jain has said that by leaking the CCTV video, the ED has defied the court’s order. A video of Satyendar Jain getting a body massage in Tihar Jail has gone viral. This video is being told of 13 September. This video has been tweeted by BJP leaders from their Twitter handle. Apart from this, the video of Satyendar Jain having food has also gone viral. After which a petition has been filed on behalf of Jain.
