EC asks for report on PM’s statement on Balakot attack

Election Commission has taken cognizance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement in which he has asked those who voted for the first time to dedicate their vote to those who carried out Balakot air strikes. The Commission has sought information from the election officials in Maharashtra. Election sources said on Tuesday that the chief election officer of Maharashtra has been asked to submit the report as soon as possible.

Addressing a rally in Latur in Ausa, Maharashtra, Modi said, “Can you dedicate your first vote to those who made air raids?” Modi said, “I told the first time voters Want to: Will your first vote be devoted to hero soldiers who made air raids (inside Pakistan)? Can your first vote be dedicated to martyrs of Pulwama (terrorist attack)? ”

This report has been sought in connection with the consultation issued by the Election Commission last month. Significantly, the Commission had last month issued consultations and asked political parties to refrain from using the Armed Forces activities in the election campaign.
